COSA Central Ohio Soaring Association

The Central Ohio Soaring Association is a non-profit organization at the Marion Municipal Airport. Originally founded as Buckeye Glider Club at the OSU airport in 1954, 10 engineering students received a $200 loan from Lt Governor John Brown to purchase a Schweizer 2-22. Once these students graduated they could no longer be members of BGC, so they formed another club called the Columbus Soaring Assoc flying out of Chillicothe, OH. In 1957, the OSU Engineering Dept. asked the BGC to leave OSU so they relocated to Marion, OH. In 1964, both clubs were struggling so they combined efforts and formed a new organization and bylaws to become COSA and call the Marion Municipal Airport its home. Today, COSA is non-profit corporation comprised of a group of individuals who enjoy the pleasure and skill of flying sailplanes, currently with 80 members. You can see glider operations year round at the Marion Municipal Airport. COSA welcomes you to join and enjoy powerless flight. For more information call (614) 323-5968.
